Michael Hoag (’11) | Lead Producer at Infinity Ward | Austin, TX

Hi, I’m Michael Hoag. I’ve spent over a decade in the gaming industry, and I truly love what I do.  I’m the Lead Producer at Infinity Ward Austin, part of Activision, where I get to work on exciting new content for the Call of Duty franchise. I’m currently focused on the next Warzone map, which is a thrilling challenge! I lead a fantastic team of over 50 talented developers, and together, we tackle everything from project timelines to creative collaboration. It’s all about bringing engaging and dynamic gaming experiences to life, and I’m grateful to be part of such a passionate team. 

My career journey began in 2011 with a BA in Communication from Wake Forest University, where I also minored in Entrepreneurship and Journalism. My early experiences as a student-athlete instilled in me the importance of discipline and networking, which have been crucial to my professional growth. My first significant industry break came through relationships I built during my time as a sideline reporter, leading to an internship at EA Sports. This path laid the groundwork for my future roles, including my tenure as a Producer at EA, where I oversaw the Madden NFL franchise and spearheaded feature enhancements.  

Throughout my career, I’ve embraced the challenges of managing diverse teams and balancing the demands of project management with effective collaboration. I believe that strong connections are vital, and I actively nurture my professional network, ensuring I maintain relationships and offer support to others in return. Mentorship has also played a key role in my development, as I’ve learned from individuals across various industries. As I look to the future, my ambition is to take on leadership roles where I can make a meaningful impact. I’m driven by a competitive spirit and a desire to foster great teams and innovative projects. I’m excited about the opportunities ahead and am always eager to connect with fellow Wake Forest alumni and those interested in the gaming industry.
