Connect with Maggie
Hello, Demon Deacons! My name is Maggie Sandy and I graduated from Wake Forest University in 2016 with a Major in Communications with a focus on Mass Communications. I also studied Entrepreneurship and worked in the Communications and Marketing department at the Wake Forest School of Law while pursuing my degree.
When I graduated from Wake Forest in 2016, I immediately decided I wanted to work as an independent contractor for businesses in the Triad, NC area. I have served as a marketing, communications, public relations, and social media expert in a variety of organizations and industries! From construction companies to local nonprofits, to academia; I have seen (and worked in) a bit of everything.
Currently, I am serving as an assistant director of Marketing & Communications within the Alumni Engagement & Development offices at Duke University in Durham, NC. I am working on communication efforts with Duke alumni, development relations, and marketing strategy. I am now working within a larger organization where I help manage projects and initiatives that help move the innovation and progress of a nationally recognized university. While I have enjoyed my time collaborating with the dark blue school down the road, I am known around the offices always having my Wake Forest gear with me!
As an Alumni Career Advisor, I can help in a variety of diverse ways. I have been known as someone who can land their dream job scenario through my resume writing, interviewing strategy, and networking skills. If you are looking for job-search help, I can make the process easier!
Additionally, I have discovered a new passion for the development of the workforce environment. Since early 2020, I have been fascinated by how the workforce has shifted to fully remote or hybrid environments. Along with these changes, the importance of work/life balance has become even more crucial for everyone. Sometimes it can be hard to assert what you need from an employer, and I want to help more people find their voices in the space.
